The frustrating thing is how little they pay the rest of employees. My husband worked at Walmart for a few years, started out stocking shelves, eventually became the manager of the meat department. The highest he was ever paid there was around $11-12 an hour. We live in the Midwest, probably in the area with the lowest cost of living, but less than $25,000 a year for a department manager is not enough to live on, especially if you have kids to support.

Guess it depends on the 401k Plan. In our organization we reconcile the employer match to employee compensation at the end of the year and make a deposit to individual employee accounts for any under matched amounts.
